beforeihadapager Dusted beats and super-evocative rhymes from the lowkey brilliant rap renaissance man. Specs' beats are always on some conjurational magic - gliding, droning, bumping, incorporating environmental noises, etc. Rhymes are most powerful here on The Question - a beautifully melancholy memory drift through old Seattle in the face of the city's gentrification - "First avenue used to smell like Afrosheen". Add his casual-precise delivery and great voice and The Question thumps me hard in the soul. Favorite track: The Question.

G Lampa Specs has proven to me that hip hop makes its real home in Seattle. I discovered Wizdumb’s “Mostly Crew” on accident, and knew right there that Seattle had it goin’ on. I’ve heard plenty of spec's stuff, since. Today, I drop loot. This is what real hip hop sounds like.

Peace to Seattle. Favorite track: Rap Flow Stain.

WIZDUMB I could go on and on about why you should listen to my man Specs, how slept on he is, and most of all how important his work is. Instead I will say this, listen to this record, have your mind blown, and tell your people about it. I wish I could re-discover specs one again, man what a feeling that was. Thank you for everything you do man. You inspire me everyday! Favorite track: The Question.
